The Balzo was made of precious fabrics such as brocade, taffeta, velvet or damask in a palette of deep colours like black, olive green, dull blue, yellow, grey, dark brown and wine red. Depending on the wealth of the wearer, they were decorated with precious stones, gold embroidery and fur.

I decided to design a contemporary variant, with the same expression but in a modern way, available for every power woman of today.

To match the rich appearance of the lavish fabrics of that period, I've used velvet yarns to knit a rich jacquard pattern on a gold merino wool base with mercerized cotton.
The knit is then attached by hand to a sturdy and already upholstered diadem.

50% polyester velvet yarn. 20% extra fine merino wool. 30% mercerized cotton
